In general most detectors that do not have manual ground balance have trouble in wet sand , dry sand most do ok
Some with GB still have trouble. Multi Freq, Most MineLab and PI machines tend to do well in the wet and maintain depth
But there are exceptions

I would not get a detector without sensitivity adjustment for the beach. Take a look at the silverumax. If the beach has low mineralization you'll be ok in dry sand, could be iffy in the wet stuff though.
