I recently while walking down a road (well traveled) found some small shell fossils. The road many years ago was cut into a hill and after a little searching around, there are piles of the rocks just sliding off the side of this hill that are full of little shell fossils. What should I be looking for and how should I go about it. I normally metal detect but fossils have always interested me. Now that I found these common shells I would love to find something cool. This is a location in northern Virginia. Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated. Thanks Mike
