Sorry, I forgot what the actual name is. They have a back that screws into the hat.

Anyway, I found it in the yard of my house, which was built around 1900 or so. It has the Marine Corp emblem and is about an inch and a half tall. I was wondering if there was any way to date it by the way the anchor is pointing. On mine, the top part of the anchor near the eagle is on the left. Sorry I have no picture.

Thanks.

in all us military insignia the backs went from pins to screws to clutch backs. The pins looked like a large safety pin, The screws had a small bolt attached and were secured with a small nut. the clutch backs have two spikes that would go through the cloth a be secured by a clutch back. (usually brass) exanimo, ss

Thanks.
My type is the screw. I'll go from there and see if I can figure out the date.
