Is there any ideas?

Hello everyone,
I am still trying to find out what this is and now I see there are a lot more people coming to the forum. So I thought I would give it another try and post it again and see if some one could figure it out. I found this about 8 inches deep around an old school in Paint Rock Alabama. There was supposed to be some Civil War activity in this area but I didn’t find anything there but this and some old change.
I appreciate any the help,

I don't think it's any part off of a camping stove.
But I guess it could possibly be a sink stopper, I never saw an old sink stopper
so I'm not sure what they look like. This looks to be made of solid copper or brass.

The bottom part of it looks like the blending part in my blender. Not much help, just an observation. Good luck.

Possibly a bolt-on... lower end... sabot piece for a CW (or later) artillery shell.
