That is very convincing but i dont think its a RPM because it looks flat and shelf like along with lacking notching. I have seen triple punched mint mark for this date but never a D/D i could be wrong though?
 

I believe it is no more than an optical illusion created by the plastic of the holder. Look at the bottom bar on the last "A" in AMERICA and you see the same optical effect. This is very similar effect that you get when looking at a coin in poor fluorescent lighting and the coin appears to have doubling on it but when you get the coin into good lighting or natual light, there is nothing there.
