Hi everyone. Visited my favorite nearby farm field after work today and I found something that I think I’ve seen someone call a “buggy brake”. (First 2 pictures). But I searched that phrase on the web and didn’t find anything. Here on TNet there are many posts with “buggy brake” in them, but there seems to be debate about that label, and others call it a cap from a pole on a buggy. Anyone care to comment on this one and what it is please?
About 20’ from that thingy I found a nice, mostly intact (but cracked) crotal bell. It still has the ball inside it, though it sounds bad (because of the cracks). Any guesses on age of the bell? Mid 1800’s?
And also nearby was a heartbreaker: that chrome thing rang up like an amazing silver coin, and I caught a glimpse of shiny in the hole...but was quickly disappointed. I was even filming me digging it on my phone just in case it was awesome. (Deleted video).
The only actual coin I found was a 1912 wheatie (not pictured - the one with the bell and thingy is a different one). I didn’t have a 1912 in my book so I’m happy I got a new one.
Thanks in advance for comments!
