We here in the midwest are not able to detect with all the snow and the 10* temp. But after seeing that beautiful buffalo I looked through a few silver dollars and found this one. Is it a double? Hard to tell, getting old you know! What do you think?

I don't see any doubling, but that's a very sharp couple of close-ups there.

Great camera!

jimb,

Currently there is only one 1887 that has documented doubling of the profile. It's an 1887-S, Vam 9. It displays doubling of Liberty's profile from the forehead to the neck and all the left stars show doubling towards the rim. If this is a P or O mint dollar, then you are probably seeing shadows or some form of mechanical doubling. I can't confirm what it is or isn't without a picture of both obverse and reverse. If it is an 'S' mint, try to get a closer shot of all the stars to the left of the date.

Looks like maybe the date was repunched,i see no other doubling....Kane23
