I found it in a dump where a WW I training
camp used to be.

It had a piece of copper tubing soldered to
it when I found it. Tha copper tubing fell off
when I was cleaning with a wire brush on a
6" bench grinder.

I have seen one other just like this. But I
have yet to get a positive ID.

Some people think it's a spigot of some kind.
But no one knows what kind.

Just my guess, but it looks like an ornate barrel tap.

Tough one!

I would like to be able to say "gas valve" but I do think this one looks more like a spigot. Not a barrel tap though. There are no grooves to grip the barrel, and no place to hammer it in.

So I guess my reply should've just said "Tag"--I'm curious to see what comments come up on this piece. Just one restoration question for you--How did you get the brass looking so good?

That's a very neat and tidy work space you have there. I'm impressed.
