I found this in my front yard using my AT Pro. It rang up in the 80's with a strong high tone. My first reaction was that it looked like a floor plate to a rifle. The two pieces were found within 12 inches of each other and do not fit perfectly, but have the same grooves on one side. Any thoughts?

Not gun related I think but perchance came from an old refrigerator or some other type of household appliance...d2

Thanks for the reply d2. I did find other pieces of scrap metal in the yard, but this looked/felt completely different.

It does kinda remind me of a rifle scope mount base but I dunno...probably not

...and we dont know the size of it.

The semi-circular part on back reminds me of where a roll of caps would go on a cap gun

Yeah I'm baffled on what it could be.

My thought was an old throttle pedal.

Might be some die cast pot metal trim from a vehicle. Probably chrome plated at one time.

Is it steel or pot metal? Maybe I missed it.

What metals are in the 80s?

I took it back outside, ground balanced the AT Pro and scanned it again. It fluctuates between 80 and 90 in the coin range shown below. Thanks for the help guys.
