Is this a lead seal?

I found this in my backyard a few days ago and I'm not quite sure it is. I can not see any type of markings on it, but it appears that one of the 'tabs' is broken off. My house was built presumably in the mid - late 1700's but has been lived in pretty consistently since and I've found items dating from the late 1700s up to modern times. If it is a lead seal, what timeframe may it be from? If it's not a seal what else could it be? Thanks in advance for taking the time to look!

To me, it looks like some melted lead that fell on the ground and hardened.

At first I thought it was just a piece of melted lead also, but then I noticed the folded over tab that you can see in the picture of the back.
