Hello There!
I am beginner and have been metal detecting an old farmer's field in Eastern Ontario, Canada. The land has been used since the 1700's approx.
I found this lead ball today (only oxidized, no corrosion). It is approx. 0.75 inches in diameter and weighs about an ounce. There is a seam all the way around it and one side is a bit knobbly. I think it is a musket ball but I am not sure ...... I would greatly appreciate any feedback and if it is a musket ball can someone tell me the approximate age?
I have remeasured the musket ball .... It is exactly 0.67 inches in diameter and weighs an ounce. Could this be for a Brown Bess musket? I know that Brown Bess used approx. .69 caliber. What other muskets were used with a 0.67 inch ball ?
