Personally I have never seen a piece that screemed pawn more than that piece.To me its like asking if a quarter is a .25 cent piece.OF COURSE its a pawn !!!

Chess sets have been made out of everything from plastic, to marble, to lead, to silver and gold. The shape is classic for a pawn - I don't think weight is even a consideration in this case, nor is size - because they have chess sets small enough to put in a doll house, to ones that are bigger than the average person.
