I gave $1 for this at a garage sale and before I list it on eBay, I figured I'd better ask if it's even real? It's probably against the rules to list fake Louis Vuitton's, isn't it :tongue3: ?
It has some flaws that I wouldn't think the real ones would have---the wrist strap is coming apart and the red paint(?) trim is pealing. Thanks for any help!

I am by far no expert, But it looks like the real thing to me..List it and if e-bay does not think it is the real thing they will tell you to pull it.

Thanks billn1956.....I might research it some more before I list it. I hate to list something and then have ebay pull it! :) They always send out such derogatory emails if you list something that goes against their rules.

There are 3 levels of quality on the fake LV items. This is probably a low level. Seams are eleven and thread is wrong. Holding the real thing is like sitting in a new Benz. They just ooze quality.

I don't think it is. The workmanship and hardware doesn't look like the good stuff made in France. I can't say for sure because it's only a picture, but it doesn't look like real leather either. My daughter years back came home all excited about a LV purse she picked up for a song. She got all pissy at me when I told her it ain't real. She then got online and found out there are tons of fake LV's out and about and what to look out for.

This one raises every possible red flag:

The "O's" in LOuis VuittOn are oblong instead of round (real LV has round O's)

Hardware (zippers etc) look like junk metal with brass finish peeling away in places, real LV will have solid heavy brass

Mediocre stitching

Not a recognizable LV design

It might fool high school kids if you have any on your holiday shopping list... so maybe not the worst use of a dollar

Search ebay's "Sold" listings for Louis Vuitton handbags then sort by price. The real ones will have the highest prices. Study the pictures and descriptions of the high priced items to get a sense of the materials and workmanship of a real Vuitton. Compare yours to those pieces to see if it measures up.

EBay does have a section on Vuitton and what to look for. I found it by seaching how to tell a fake Louis Vuitton. I've come across 2 fakes in the last couple off weeks at thrift stores bought the first one. That's when I searched how to tell, so when I saw the next one I could tell it was a knock off.

Thanks for all the help, vwayne1, tamrock, gino22, Tallone, tomsright and jerseyben!
I won't be listing it on eBay.
