Dug by my wife. Was wondering if it was a piece of a double barrel shotgun, and if it could be identified as to which model.

Yeah, looks like the receiver or breechblock of a shotgun, good luck determining the maker.

Yes that is the receiver/breachblock end of a double barrel shotgun,the right side firing pin can still be seen protruding out of breach block.As far as id markings it would take some serious meticulous cleaning and than I seriously doubt it.Fun find,good luck.

Electrolysis "might" clean it up enough to ID it. Maybe...

She's recovered although her car was totaled in her recent accident. Glad she's out digging again!

Cool find, alway wonder about things like that when no barrel is present, ballistics testing with shotguns is done by matching the firing pin marks...congrats on the dig.
