Is this a stoneware vase? I am not familiar with pottery. It was dug in a 1930's bottle dump. The vase has a circle and dot on the bottom.
The vase might be older because I also found an Alfred Meakin plate with makers mark from 1875-1897.

Looks a lot like Chinese Earthware, which dates from the 1700's - the late 1800's

Breezie, did your Heinz, have the glaze drip? That seems odd for a Commercial Co. to have that??

The 2 I had were identical with dark brown glaze and a fairly thin white drip in the 'chest' area. (from what I remember) Both were marked/embossed HEINZ on the bottom. I think White's from Ithica made the stoneware for Heinz. I try not to carry too much glassware because I have a tendency to be a butterfingers, so my experience with breakables is limited.

Cryptic, look at it this way, you found an antique stoneware glazed crock in great condition. It's sorta like genealogy, you can't always nail down exactly every detail. Nice find  Breezie
