Dug this earlier in the week at a small 18th century house site only about 50 ft from where I recovered a British 80th regimental Rev War button last spring. At first I thought it was just a knob, finial or furniture decoration, but I later realized it had a small hole in the end. I know some pommels had this general look, but can't be sure of its identity. I'm leaning toward it not being a pommel at the moment. Any help appreciated.

Could be. These were list for auction in 2015. Described as 17th C sword pommels:
