Is this a thumb scraper? I don't know anything about Indian artifacts or anything... but this piece was found on what was an old farm field in an area with Indian activity in south New Jersey. It isn't as nicely shaped as some arrowheads I've seen online (never found anything,) but it looks similar to some photos I've seen. It fits perfect into one's fingers... there is an indentation where the thumb fits and the other part perfectly cups the finger. It's looks quite round on the front and it's beveled all the way around. Of course, it can still just be an ordinary rock... but I wanted your opinions. Thanks!

Anyone?

I don't think so. The material doesn't look like flint or chert to me.
The sharp edge appears to me to be the result of a singular fracture and not at all worked, which leads me to think it just a rock.
Keep looking, who knows what you might find.

Thanks for the opinions. I'm thinking it's argillite, but like I said, this isn't my area of expertise... It could very well be just a rock. I'll have to go back and poke around to see if I can find anything else.

Looks like just a random flake of material to me. I don't see any evidence of being worked or used by man.
