I found this lying on the ground near a creek while out metal detecting. I know almost nothing about native American artifacts, so just wondering.

That would definitely be an artifact, every surface is worked/chipped. Keep looking and happy hunting!

That's a preform or tool.

Does the other side have any flaking present?

The other side is basically the same as this side.

Here is a pic of the other side, this was the side touching the ground.

I'll say tool or preform for a "bird" point.

Do the edges look zigzaged when ya look at it edge first? If so I say blade,if not I say scraping tool. But It is fer sure a artifact!Well done & keep lookin..I live in Texas also & have found many tools like yours..Keep lookin down & good luck..Geo
Of very nice lithics as well..

Nice one congrats on that piece it almost looks polished

Thanks for your insightful comments everyone. I quess I will be more watchful for these kinds of objects.

It's man-made. Pre-form or tool. Hold it and see if it fits naturally to your grip in some way. Many items were used for tools that were just knocked off on the spot and we don't recognize them. Go back to that site as there's probably more artifacts!
