Is this an Indian Artifact?

Can anyone tell me what this is? I'm assuming it's a Native American artifact. I live just a few miles from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Reservation. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I think that is a piece of schist. Large grain size and its in layers. Metamorphic. Wrong kind of rock for any known artifacts. Any rock on an Indian campsite could have been used various purposes though.
