Yep-looks like the contact for a bulb in a utility socket. The old white porcelain (sp) type with the screw in center where the bulb goes. The thingy you have got the juice to the bulb. They are still sold today Good hunting, Alex

jake nailed it, it is the contact part of an old style door bell button used about 40 yrs ago, my parents had one brown bakalite oct shaped about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter with a white button in the center

Makes sence cause i found it near the front door, and i also found the outside metal shell to a doorbell.
