Back to the schoolhouse for an hour today and I found this about 10 feet from where I found the 1934 Washington quarter. It was about 7 inches deep.

Another first for me! I looked it up and it seems to be a 1917-S Type 1. The date is worn off but the 1916 and 1917 are the only dates that don't have the three stars under the eagle. And I don't think there was an S mintmark for 1916.

Congrats on the Standing Liberty Quarter. Your info on it seems correct.
Nice find!

Good luck,
HH.

Nice job dutchroots!!

(I just found my first SLQ this spring.)

Keep digging!

Had the pleasure to hunt with "Dutch" tonight. The guy has been bitten by the bug, there will be more finds coming from him.
P.S. Thanks Chris.

Congrats on a tough find. My big goal for this year is to find one with a readable date.

Great score on the 17s type 1  my first SLQ was also a 17s type 1 myself.

But wait.....there's more! I went back to the schoolhouse again tonight for another hour. Made two more decent finds.

My first Barber dime! It's a 1902. Couldn't find a mint mark. And then there's the 1897 Indian head, which didn't scan very well.

muleskinner, hope to see you out there again some time!
