Park Ranger and Pack Mule pouches by Freeloader!
I started a re-upholstery project that I wanted to get out of the way this morning.

I bought an old swivel chair off of Craigslist, probably from the 40's or 50's, made of Naugahyde brand covering and horse hair.

I was pulling the covering off and saving it to use as a pattern. Halfway through, I see that a key had gotten stuck in the chair.

I see it as a clock winding key, but this is smaller than the one that my mother has.

Here it is with a Merc dime as a size reference.

Can anyone get specific of the type of clock that this fit?

It has a triangle shaped drive at the end.

It is so small that it must not turn a very large mechanism.

I never thought of a toy, that would make sense.

Pocket watch

Yep, just happened to have my watch on the desk, My key is likely a different manufacturer, but it's dead similar to yours. There's a thread here from at least 3 years ago where I was getting advice on mine. Got to go do some looking.

I went and found that thread and have you a picture to compare with:

Pocket watch will have a square hole. Probably for a wind up toy.

Sorry, I missed that it was triangle drive. That would be a "sewing machine key". Windup toys seem to have wider wings.

"I got a brand new pair of roller skates, you got a brand new key" (sing it)
This old song popped into my head.
Good find.

I really have no idea what kind of key it is. I'm thinking there are a lot of different kinds out there.

I once read that Melanie had to sing part of that song to gain backstage access at Woodstock, because the guard didn't believe it was her.:icon_scratch:

Think I'll start tearing some old chairs apart,, lol.
Congrats on the key

Cool find, beerguy and nice job on the ID, AU Seeker! TNet is the best home schooling program in Town! :occasion14:

Sewing machine key, just like the one I have with my Singer treadle machine.

Thanks for the ID, gang.

I called my Mom to tell her, since she has a machine in a cabinet.

Going to bring it to her in case it fits.
