My first hunt of the year, I got permission for a new field and today was the day. As soon as I showed the farmer the map he said ya that makes sense, he always wondered what the well in the field was for. There was a house on the map in 1853, 1859 and gone in 1874. I didn't have to go far too find brick and pottery fragments and soon after I had my first button. I found several more buttons and a buckle to make a great start of the new year.

I guess I can't post my pictures

does the field get plowed, or just for hay? If it gets plowed, you will get more each year

I like to look for pottery fragments, etc, after corn fields get cut and were rained on all season

what type of buckle? farm or for people? :)

Here are the pics

Cool finds. Very interesting buckle thingy.

That's a great hunt, research was spot on too. With all those early-mid 1800s buttons a nice coin should be hiding nearby.

Great button finds. I hope to find some this year, only found 3 last year. Detected through 3-4 " of snow Saturday. Im sure you may have been also.
