Some sort of spike-shaped object. Base of a flag/banner pole? butt end of a sphere? Any ideas?

Could it be an iron Pilum tip?

Thanks for the guess but I believe pilums were used by the Romans. This was found in the Republic of Colombia.

Early 17th C?

Is there a twist in the iron? I know that's how they made hollow tubes, including musket barrels, back then and well in to the 19th C.

Looks like the end of a gardening tool where the handle goes inside, but the tool (rake-hoe-spade-etc) portion broke off.
