Detector(s) used
Garrett AT Pro, Garrett Ace 400, 5"x8" coils for both. Whites PinPointer.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
After Church I went out for an hour before other plans had to be dealt with. I found a pound of trash and .15 cents in the form of 5 Memorial Pennies and a 1977 Dime. Did have Dog and the owner come over to talk to me while I was Pin Pointing the dime. She let the dog stand over my hole for 5 minutes while she asked all sorts of questions. I may have recruited her into the hobby. Sure wasn't intentional! LOL

An hour outside detecting is great no matter what you find! Last month, I was detecting at a park and an older gentleman sauntered over and was talking to me about the hobby...he was interested but on the fence about dropping serious $ for a decent machine...and out of the corner of my eye, I see his Dachshund taking a whiz on my machine...at least it was the coil end...lol...ddf

LOL, Aw Gawd, that sounds like something that happens to me.

Nope, Nope, Nope!

You found 14 and 15/16 cents. That zincoln of yours is decaying! How dare they do that! Maybe just spend it quick and maybe you'll get a whole cent out of it.

I've quit digging them. I don't know about the Ace 400 series. I went out today, and I passed up more zincs than I dug others as a total. Each dig takes time. If you can't spend that coin you found and it is otherwise worthless, you've just wasted time you could have spend digging a coin that cashes.

I've a beautiful zinc from my last tumble. It's a donut, no center - actually pretty cool, maybe I need to find a chain so I can wear that around my neck.

But,

Zincs just ain't worth digging. I used to believe otherwise.

I just put it in my jar as long as it is identifiable. My Credit union coin counter accepts them 90% of the time so it is worth a penny I didn't have. I am still learning to pick them out before digging. If I ever figure it out I will probably skip them in the future also.

I think most of us can attest to that kind of day, or worse. It can't all be the salad days as I well know. Good that you got out though!

If the lady was going to stand there much longer with her dog, I would have asked to borrow it to finish digging your hole !

Don't skip those penny holes.... they could always be something else fun thats sitting on a funny angle or near a piece of iron muddying the signal. You gotta dig everything.

Congrats.

Yesterday was a really nice day to hunt.

Best of luck to you sir!

15 cents and a new friend, at least you weren't skunked.
