Basically you pour in your saved up coins into top of the coinstar machine...it then counts your coins, you then get a receipt of the amount, the machine keeps a percentage...I think it's somewhere around 12 percent now...and you cash in your receipt... the machine rejects foreign, damaged, and sometimes silver coins which go to the reject bin of the machine...where people hopefully forget to check... that's it... the machines are found in some grocery stores...
 

So it's a bit like 'bin hoking' :icon_thumleft: or 'dumpster diving'
