It's good to have friends in (correct) places
Over the last several years, I've come to know a gentlemen; whose job it is to service the coin counters at several of the banks/CUs that I frequent.
We would run into each other from time to time; as I often was in a position to be dumping coin through some of the coin counters for which he was responsible.
We would talk it up, we had many similar interests, but CRHing or coin collecting in general were not one of them.
Consequently, and more so in the last few months, he would contact me when he had "recovered' any silver coins in his travels.
I typically pay him 2.5X for 40%ers and 5X for 90%ers.
It's not getting it at face, as when I CRH it, but it's still well below spot.
He's happy, I'm happy and it's a win/win.
BTW, while it's typically up to the financial institution, he tells me they usually want the coin counters calibrated to reject any silver. Thus, I know not to bother requesting bags off of those machines. 8)
