It's Magic?

Found this item at old house location.

It appears to be made out of brass (possibly)

It says magic on it, there are three slots cut into the part just below it. And it appears to have been threaded at one point on the bottom, maybe a piece is missing.....?

Barrell tap (or other tap related piece), but not sure on the Magic bit

not sure what that looks like (could be right), as I just realised the holes look to be in the wrong place for a tap

This was the only thing like it I could find.....I don't know though. This is fireman related.

I think it's a broken key for a gas lamp.

I found some references in Google books about a "Magic Light Co. of Chicago" that was in the gas lamp industry. Dates around 1900.

Not much info on the company other than references to a law suit v. Economy Gas Lamp Co.

Part of a gas appliance petcock. Maybe from a gas heater or stove.

Right , It's the inside of a cock type valve, probably gas. I have valves like that on an antique gas hot plate. Tony

Could be a part from the large units described late in the attachment.
