It's pretty worn but it's a 1916 merc.............

To bad it's not a "D" mint. Almost freaked out when I saw the date and realized I was rubbing it with my thumb :tard:. Even if had a "D" mint mark it's so worn it probably wouldn't have been worth much. It still was fun finding it.

Also go luckly and found a 194? merc, 1964 rosie, 1945 war nickel, tiny silver ring, what looks like an older bus token, and 6 wheats.

The Landier Transit Co. token is from Watts, California dated 1948 bronze and catalogues for $1.00. Nice finds, congrats..

Thanks Joe! The 1916 merc got the juices flowing when I saw the date ;D

Actually, it appears your 1916 merc isn't as bad as worn as many I've seen posted here, and elsewhere. I've seen some where you could barely read the date, and some that, if had a D mintmark, wouldn't show it. I say, nice dime, and cool finds all around.

I hear you Silvefreak! Kind of like finding that big gold diamond ring and learning it's fake. You're kind of pissed but it's still gold. ;D Thanks for the reply.

Don't 'ya love those heart stoppers.....then we turn the dime over.... no D mint mark ::)
Nice finds Randy. I have been let down a couple of times this year on the 1916 myself...but hey...it's still a 1916.

You might want to be careful when you rub them coins when in the field.
If that dime were a "D", in that condition would still be worth from $600.00
to $900.00!!! Check it out on eBay. There are 16 d's that are in more worn
condition than yours for a buy it now of $925.00.
I like to carry a small, wide top asprin bottle about 3/4 full of water. When
you find a silver, don't rub it!! Drop in into the asprin bottle and let it ride
around in water until you get home. Usually they are pretty clean by the time
your done dirt fishin.
