Be advised small-scale mining community, suction dredging is about to disappear permanently in California if PLP does not immediately obtain substantial additional legal funding. The California outcome will reverberate throughout all of the states with suction dredge mining. If we lose, the radical environmentalists have a road map to replicate their success everywhere.
Let’s be clear fellow miners, suction dredging is the opening gambit in the admitted radical environmentalist effort to eliminate all prospecting and mining in the country, not just California. Highbanking, sluicing, drywashing, panning and even metal detecting are all on the chopping block. You need to look no further than Oregon to see that prediction coming true

I am posting this on several threads so it can be seen.

Judge Achoa denied the injunction because in 2009 based upon a survey by.......in which 668 respondents labled themselves as "RECREATIONAL" DREDGERS! Shame on them.

I propose that all clubs, (GPAA) included give their members the reason for NEVER USING THE TERM RECREATION, RECREATIONAL, PASTIME, HOBBY, OR ANY OTHER SUCH LIKE WORDS IN CONNECTION WITH PROSPECTING AND MINING. All new members should receive an orientation piece in this regards too. Don't let this happen again!

Hey Thanks Jog

Just got back from the monkey meeting in Nevada City about the critical habit forms by liberal frogs
good news about a 100 people showed up and there was much applause for those that opposed this nonsense, I stayed for almost two hours listening and there were questions asked that Ms Norris ( i will have to check if that’s the right last name so don’t quote me on this) could not answer.

She mentions a few times that recreation will not be effected. If ya know the history of people like this the opposite is true.
Grazing was a concern could not be answer to most satisfaction , and the rim fire came up a couple of times and this was a stumper for her and pal from fish and wildlife, Steve Brink with CalForest did very well I introduce myself and he gave me his card so i can get more info from his studies,
Best part was Congressman LaMalfa was present and had a surprised look on some of the comments made and was questioning both representing this designated critical habitat frog nonsense
So folks all i can say from what i took away from this meeting, it’s not just about California, this is federal as well
Oh and someone brought up the spotted owl and the increase of their habitat and how it’s failing miserably, large agreement from the people on this one

Congressman LaMalfa is the person to write letters of concern,
i post the listing below but my thought is don't waste your time with the east coast
Q. What’s the deadline and where to I submit my comments?A.

A few things to keep in mind.

1 The environmental movement is a multi pronged attack. Yosemite protection, frogs, USFW conservation easements for the ranchers. All the same goal
2 The Crazies are running the Asylum. The management of the agencies are the environmentals.
3 The attack on America will continue at a exponentially faster pace. Implemented by 2020 ONLY 6.5 yrs to lock it down.
4 Sustainable development is not your friend. Humans have survived thousands of years. What was unsustainable before.
5 Over 700 more species of plant and animals will be listed to lock down the land.

Just to list a few things. And the last thing

PLP AND THE COURT CASES are the only defense in the way and they are the only cases with standing in court to carry on the fight.
If they quit or lose, Mining in the US will fall like dominoes. gravel mines, metal, coal everything will be regulated into non existence.

The response I got back from a letter I wrote to Congressman Mike Simpson

Dear Layn:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) oversight regarding dredging. I appreciate hearing from you and having the opportunity to respond.

Like many Idahoans, I am deeply concerned that, under the Obama Administration, the EPA has drastically expanded its regulatory authority. The EPA is pumping out new regulations every week, without Congress’s consent, that impact nearly every facet of Americans’ lives—from whom you can hire to remodel your house to what kind of car you can drive. I am concerned that this Administration is using the EPA to force on the American people an extreme environmental agenda that will hurt our economy and push an unwelcomed government further into the lives of citizens.

As Chairman of the House Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, which oversees funding for the EPA, I am working to bring some common sense to our nation’s environmental policies. I intend to do oversight that shines some light on how the EPA has been spending the dramatic increases in funding that it has received in recent years and look at whether the regulations and actions coming out of the agencies are appropriate, given the regulatory authority provided by Congress. I strongly believe that government should be responsive to the people, not force on them policies that they don’t support.

In your correspondence you specifically mentioned your concerns regarding the EPA administering the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Permit (NPDES) program in Idaho. As you may know, on April 4, 2013, the EPA issued an NPDES General Permit for small suction dredging operations in Idaho. The general permit covers small suction dredges with an intake nozzle size of five inches in diameter or less and with equipment rated at 15 horsepower or less and must be obtained prior to operation of such equipment.

It is helpful for me to hear from you on this important issue. I understand your concerns and I will continue to closely monitor the NPDES permitting process in Idaho to ensure the EPA does not overstep its regulatory authority.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. As your representative in Congress, it is important to me to know your thoughts and opinions about issues affecting our nation today. I also encourage you to visit my website, U.S. Congressman Mike Simpson - 2nd District of Idaho, to sign up for my e-newsletter and to read more about my views on a variety of issues.

Sincerely,
Mike Simpson
Member of Congress
