Re: I've got the blues......

Heh, still a pretty somber picture...
I've wanted to try the same thing, but never figured I'd be able to get one.
But since I do live in the lightening capital of the WORLD, I should probably try it sometime (anytime!) lol

Re: I've got the blues......

gypsyheart,

try a radio next time.

It messes up the mood but often you may
get some static just prior lighting.

Very nice scene Gypsy,I was doing the same thing last night ! Power was out and between takeing photos of the lightning (well trying to anyways)and playing with my waterproof flashlight in my fish tank I managed to keep myself amused ! :D Lightning Hummingbirds and fish,You have to aim and shoot the spot were you think they will be at next ! ;)

Then we would have a lot of shots of my head and bottom ...because I always think I am going to get hit !!!!..........and Sherm.... ::)

Re: I've got the blues......

Capturing lightening is difficult. I use my old 35mm camera and leave the shutter locked open until a strike is in the field of view. With my digital cameras it is almost impossible for me.

Doesn't matter though the lake pic looks beautiful.

Re: I've got the blues......

My mom takes some photography classes and she sent me this about fireworks pictures...if I remember correctly it covered taking lightning pictures as well and it does go over doing the pictures with a digital camera. I was busy with my daughter during fireworks so I did not try them and no electrical storms here yet this summer. Hope it helps someone though!

Re: I've got the blues......

Cool evening photo. . . even without the lightning!
I like the lights along the far shoreline and the overall blue monochrome color of the image.

Not that that would be a bad thing ! ;) ;D Next time in the garden wear a "flowery" hat and sit very still, not to worry the birds know what there doing ! :D As far as the lightning goes, wear rubber boots and take your shots from under the bed like i do ! ;D

Re: I've got the blues......

Gypsy,

That's a very, very peaceful setting...kind to sit out under the stars and just enjoy!

Re: I've got the blues......

Fantastic! That is one of the things that I enjoy, is sitting out on the front porch at night and watching the lightening and listening to the thunder. Look forward to a good lightening pic.

Overlooking the lake last night at midnight....storm was rolling in and I was trying to capture lightening....didn't work :)

Hey Gypsy sweet heart don't despair, with the same stick-to-it-ive-ness
as you display for research of potential profitable sites, you will no doubt succeed, I wish I could give you a few pointers but am not knowledgeable in photography.
But maybe all of us should think from time to time upon this quote by a great patriot of our country, Thomas Edison,
(quote),
I have not failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work...

we could all safely say this also applies to each and every one of us. esp me.
