I've no idea what this thing is...

The piece of lead was in the cup thing and surrounded by a network of small roots when I dug it up.



Pieces of the cup thing flake off quite easily, any ideas?

Looks like some type of small decorative piece with a frog on the top. ? Breezie

I am likely wrong because I know nothing about making bullets, but I do know about casting in metal, and that looks like a bad job of making a lead "bullet" or maybe a sinker (or something else usually made of lead, like a sash weight?) The point is, it was botched and tossed -- thus both the mold and cast may be what you have here.
