My guess its a Meerschaum...and the mouthpeice is ox-Horn, ebonite or acrylic...

Value of pipes today are really off from many years ago when Meerschraums were really coveted by pipe smokers...

The note has been in the case for over 65 years as far as I know.

thanks for the additional photos.

That looks like a real collectors pipe; would take into
a real tobacco/pipe store.

The carving, if it is Meerschraums, seems a bit rough.
But nice pipe. Looks like it has seen many years of use;
case also seems old.

Any idea who was the owner?

It does appear to be Meerschaum. From the size of it I would guess it is a cheroot pipe or a cigarette holder.

I agree with it being a cheroot pipe.

The more a meerschaum has been smoked the higher it's value because of the color changes. Believe it or not.
I think your's dates to the early 1900's at the least and is probably worth about $80. JMHO
