There is a Jerry Mandigo in St. Johns, Michigan who ran a hotel in the 1870s. He seems to have only been in St. Johns for a few years in the 1870s. I think he could be the same person as the Jeremiah Mandigo that Creskol found in Wayland.
Hotel coat check tags from that era have the same design as your piece. If you found it in the area of St. Johns that may be good circumstantial evidence to connect it to him.
