Japanese cigarette holder

Need some help with this cigarette holder. The bottom says, "Japan". The lining is wood. Box is about 3 1/4 " long 1 1/2" deep and about 1" high. After my wife's father passed away she found it in a trunk holding some of his belongings.

Just from my flawed memory but before WW2 just "Japan" was used for export. After the war for a few years it was "Made in Occupied Japan" then "Made in Japan. So it looks like fairly recent export.
You might be able to find information about when the mark was made. Might try "Made in Japan".
