Tonight we went out with 12 people we've never met before through a group at our church. Everybody's talking and getting along fine and send somebody brings up the topic so what y'all do for living? I love when this question comes out because the reactions you get from people are priceless! There was a paramedic, police officer, three teachers, real estate agent, a business owner of medicine delivery, a dentist, and a couple people who worked on computers. And then there's me. I sell on eBay for a living!!! The reactions are great! like what you can make a living off of that are you kidding me! how much can you possibly make! So that starts off a whole new 20 minute spiel with everybody. Then something I paid a couple dollars for sold for
$160 on the way to the meeting so that was nice!
The people that made more money laughed it off as a joke. And another lady wants me to come out and look at her coin collection next week she inherited. But I just wanted to share! the guy who is a police officer wants to go yard selling with me one weekend too.

Some people don't get it. There are numerous ways to make a buck if you want to work at it. Today's society is too lazy they want everything handed to them.

99% of the people that I meet think and act like selling on ebay and at indoor flea markets for a living is some type of joke.

The other 1% just looks at me like I am a three headed goon from a swamp.

Yep because deep down they wish they could do the same thing.

Lol isn't that the truth!

This is the way that people with regular jobs view people who sell on ebay, unfortunately. If you are hustling around to make your living, maybe you are hustling the government / everyone else, too.

I have an ex-wife, a Vice-President at a corporation right now, who will tell you flat out that people who make their money selling on ebay are lazy people who don't want to get a real job. And I don't think that's just her and her impression of me...

Lazy because? She sounds lovely. I'm glad you got out with a pair still attached, lol. If I had to do ebay full time to make a living, my working hours would increase to probably 16-18 hours a day, 7 days a week, or more than double of what I "work" now. Sometimes people just run their mouths to hear themselves speak. Makes them feel better about themselves and their own inadequacies.

I could make more money working a regular job. But I am retired and my wife is disabled, so selling on Ebay lets us get some extra income while I am able to take care of my wife at the same time. To me it is a win, win situation. The only fun part is the hunt, which my wife enjoys too. The rest is just plain work!
