I agree, I am venturing a guess that the (Hobbs/Nobbs) gold mine they are refering to is the one in san bernardino county, California.
There are a few stories with that name around the Camp cady area..or maybe not it was kinda a vague statement, so who knows??

He leaves us hanging.... :help:

Wow..nice article! If I could pronounce that lake's name I might have a chance of finding that cave! :laughing9: :laughing7: :laughing9:

Please elaborate just a tad bit more!!

o that mine, its over by hoffa estates

Well if John Nobbs lost his gold mine I hope you find it Rugger.

Boy! did not expect such a reaction
First read the article carefuly,It is not a mine we are looking for but a cache and will not be easy to hunt for.
Lake temiskaming is huge and is dangerous to be on.I cannot give out to much cause i dont want competition!
Have a good day folks! Rugger

Well here is more on Hoobs mine
My theory on this lost mine is when Hobbs was found by a group of indian wondering on the frozen lake
and if I was a curious buck I would backtrack his steps. If gold was found what i would do is cover up the entrance with available resources
witch would bedrock slabs nearby. There are documented account that natives in the area wore gold and silver ornements and for years prospectors
would try following them in hopes of discovering their stach but never did find it.
One thing to keep in mind is the area would look completely different in winter and summer.
Mrs Hobb would have probably walk over the entrance without relizing this.
My plan is to be on site this spring with a rock mover built by me ,using adjustable steel grips and chain and a batt powered winch (1 1/2 ton cap)
to move the slabs not lifting. It will be a long trip but is well worth it.

Very cool story. I used to fish on that lake for trout and walleye. It would be fun to go back.
