Bomber? Where do you see guys don't like the "Duke"? I'm suprised... they must be the metrosexuals born in the 80s...

hey jim check out the post below"worst movies ever made"

when I was a kid(70's) my folks always let me stay up late when the Duke was on.
My Mom says she had a very upset little boy on her hands when he died.

I have close to 80 movies of his, you might say I'm a fan, LOL! ;D

They do not make heroes any more like "Duke". John Wayne and Dean Martin made some of the best movies together, "Son's of Katie Elder and I think the other one was "Rio Bravo" with Walter Brennan and Ricky Nelson. Correct me if I am wrong.

right on the money dave.................THE DUKE ROCKS!

The Duke was great!
Still is!

I like McClintock a lot, and Donovan's Reef.

Anyone know where I can get "In the Wake of the Red Witch?"

Its been out for a few years, I have it. Look at Krogers. If they don't have it in the videos, they can order it for you.

Thanks Jeffro,

This thread made me think of it... Never seen it before.
An old friend of mine was a stuntman on set of that film.
He was probably a bigger storyteller than the guy who wrote the script!

Wow! You got 80 of 'em!
What are YOUR favorites?

The Quiet Man, Sands of Iwo Jima, Angel and the Badman, The man who shot Liberty Valance, jeez.... I could go on and on.

I just picked up Big Jim McClain here a month or so ago. It could be better, but its fascinating to see the stories he promoted. Its a POSITIVE piece on the house Un-American activities comittee back during the McCarthy days! Filtering out Commies, lol!

Those first four are definately some of the best, IMO. :)

The place I picked up The wake of the red witch- out here its called Fred Meyer's, but I doubt if anybody that doesn't live in Oregon has ever heard of it.... anyways, Kroger's bought them out a few years back, so I'm just assuming they may have it at their other stores.

Here are the best ones IMO, I left out Liberty Valance though....

I forgot "Liberty Valance" ....was that a good movie or what !!!!!! think i'll go watch " The Longest Day "

He made a lot of movies, its a shame Hollywood snubbed him for so long. He made a gang of real oaters back in his early days, real Hoppalong cassidy stuff, LOL! But I think since 1940 or so he really didn't make too many BAD ones.....

It's tough to pick favorites! :D

Probably the best of the bunch was the Searchers and right behind it would be The Shootist.

Funny as I'm reading the posts on treasurenet tonight, I'm also watching TV and wouldn't you know it , it's a John Wayne movie, his last and certainly not his best, The Shootist is on as I type this.

I don't think John Wayne was a great Actor, but he was a great Movie Star.

My top 5:

Rio Bravo
The Cowboys
Cahill, United States Marshall
Hellfighters
Big Jake

but as ive admited in another thread HE does have some good movies ::)
the green berets isnt really on my list for good its so....propagand'ish if there is such a word
propagandistic is a better word i guess
The Shootist ,is one of his BEST movies EVER not just because its his last :tongue3:
but he knew he was going to die (go with that parallel in really life)
but HE WORKED IT, he went Balls to the Walls  :coffee2:
i can respect that :sad5:

"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them." (The Shootist)
