Checked the yard and this popped out, it’s got my spidey senses tingling but the rational side says I’m getting excited over a flake because it’s been a while since I’ve found a good point. I think the site is early archaic possibly transitional. What do you think flake or something more?

I would say flake. Where the scraper part would be looks to have a recent break. Who knows. No way of telling now. Cool material.

That kinda sums up where I’m at, looks like a bit of edge work but nothing conclusive, could just be from getting kicked around. The size also makes me want to say tool but maybe it’s just a flake.

...I was going by pic.#2, all the flaking appears to be on one side, don’t you think that’s strange..If it was kicked around, flakes would be knocked off both edges..Of course I don’t have it in hand for a positive I’d..

Yes I do think it’s been in a fire or heat treated, h.p I agree it looks more than kicked around I was curious if others thought the same, one of the things against it being a tool is I can’t work out what the plan was. It doesn’t look like it was on its way to be a biface or anything... maybe they realized it was gonna be a pain with the thickness and only put minimal effort into it

It may be too brittle from the fire for further refinement.
