Went out and looked the lake over then came back and made fry bread. Nobody else up here knows how to make that I guess. I can make it larger and thinner in that Indian Taco style, but this is how I usually make it for everyday eating.

I hardly ever buy any type bread. Make my own.

That frybread is a whole NDN cultural thing, Wrightdigger, and every group of people have their own recipe. I use a simple Kiowan recipe. Not my heritage, but the people I grew up around. 2 cups flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and mix in warm water until it's like bread dough. Or the way I do it, 4 handfuls flour, 2 pinches salt, 4 pinches baking powder. Let it rise for awhile, all day is ok, then work it out flat on a floured board. Then put it in a skillet with about a half inch of hot grease. Don't get the grease too hot. If you want to make it come out a little flatter, poke a hole in the middle of the dough. Another tip, from that young lady I was sweet on and trying to impress at the time, that Kiowa Oyebi girl, DON'T WORK THE DOUGH TOO MUCH. I learned that lesson, but haven't seen her in a long long time, haha!
