DiggnNdumps and myself visited an on homestead where i live that was built on around 1910-1920. It had a house and 3 barns so things were hopeful this morning...well we started at 10:30am and 3 hours later we realize it was a bust. We scrubbed the place as best we could and only found a few zincs left behind by some illegal dumpers...Im guessing someone beat us too the area years ago because there is absolutely no way on a 100 year old property not one old coin could be turned up...im still at a loss about it...so we moved to a few old homes in town 1930s or so and still nothing but clad. Most of these old houses are still lived in and im sure have been hunted before and only have recent drops to show. I did find a little childs ring that looks to be silver but it has no markings. Do all sterling silvers have some kind of marking or are there some that simply do not?! I did find this old flash light casing about 9 inches in the ground which i though was pretty cool. Its not super old but i have never seen one like it! Thanks for looking and hopefully our next hunt will come out a little better!

Got out, had a good time, and were rewarded with a nice handful of goodies to boot! Don't ya just love this hobby!

clad better than nothing

Not all sterling jewelry is marked as such. I don't stamp the jewelry I make, and I know several other Native American jewelry makers who don't either. Most of us just stamp it with our mark, or initials.
For instance, on mine, you'll find W E .
And, some earings are so small, there's no room to stamp them. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info! It was a beautiful day to be out detecting!

I keep all my jewelry, fake or not, they are still keepsakes for me!

Keep clearing out the trash. They can not get it all! Also, it may have been resurfaced, being your more modern flashlight was a 9 inches.

Yeah, that was in one of the yards, found a copper at 2 inches and a zinc at 7 lol
