Just got a little suprize!

I just took a look at one of my acid flasks that had HCl/AuCl from stripping plated items. It had about 300ml of solution, but now only has about 100. The solution turned clear and in the bottom are about 300 gold foil flakes about 40 mesh in size. Looks like the solution may have pulled out the sulfur from the black rubber stopper and precipitated the gold. The other stoppered 500ml flask is still deep yellow.

Only thing was that there was still pretty strong acid in there (started 12M), and I wanted to do more stripping this spring before taking the gold. But pretty gold glitter crystals are cool too!
