I finaly picked up my very first detector an want to start searching, mostly this machine will be used for nugget hunting an a lil bit of coin shooting here around Yuma,I've noticed there really isnt alot of info on the Eldorado here on this board,is this due to its popularity or just nobody wants to disscuss the old machines when the new shiney ones are out, have I made a bad choice by buying a used machine an listening to the dealer who sold it to me?there where 4 other machines in the same price range an this one was the one he recomended the most.I'd love to kow what you all think,an any links or tips would be greatly accepted.

Hey, Tank

I bought a used Eldorado a couple of years ago and I don't regret it; it's become my go-to detector when I don't want to fool around with settings and tone ID. I ground balance it by putting it in all-metal, set the sensitivity around 7-8 and adjust the ground balance while pumping it. Once adjusted, I leave it in all-metal or set the discrimination between foil and 5 cents, depending on how clean the area is that I'm hunting. When I get a hit, I thumb the disc knob just past 5 cents; if the signal goes away, it's a nickel or something in that range. If I still have a signal, I thumb it past pulltab; if the signal goes away, it's a pulltab or something in the pulltab range. In either case, dig it or leave it; your call. If the signal persists past pulltab, it's a no-brainer - dig it. The more you hunt with it, the better you'll become at some of the subtle changes in sound that will help you make the dig/no dig decision.

Hope this helps a little. If you have any specific questions, PM me and I'll do my best to help you out.

HH,
Relic

You definitely got yourself a good detector. I believe you would be better served using a Lobo for gold though. That doesn't mean your dog won't hunt gold.

hey Tank,
If I were you I'd be heading for the Cargo Muchacho's... But after the summer....
