A couple of tips.............start out with a low sensitivity of about 4 bars..........and keep in mind that the 250 does not sound off when the target passes the center of the coil..........it sounds off when the target passes the outer edges of the coil. On a sweep from left to right, you will hear the signal as the target passes under the left outer ring/s of the coil and vice versa. If pulltabs and caps become a problem on the notch between penny and dime, disc that notch out. You will miss zinc/new pennies, but will save some time.

Great stuff Ricardo, thanks. How does it do on silver coins? Anything special I should know?

Scotto, the 250 will do fine on Silver Coins in my opinion. Honestly, the only thing that can really kill a 250's performance is owning one in the wrong part of town. By that, I mean that there is no manual ground balance on the machine. It has a preset that should work almost everywhere, but if it doesn't, you're in trouble. I've had my ACE for almost 3 months now and have found a good 6 silver coins with it..........about 4 mercury and 2 rosies at varying depths from 1 inch down to a bit over 6". The 250 is good on picking up dimes and ID's them very well. It is even better at ID'ing quarters.....it is almost never wrong. The 250 is a good machine, but give yourself time to learn it........It's been weeks and weeks, and I only know my machine down to about 5-6 inches....after that, the language is a bit more complicated and in this cold weather, I'm hesitant to dig the deeper targets. You really need to allow yourself time to learn the 250. That is important advice #1. Number #2 is to understand how targets sound off under the coil, because it doesn't happen in the center of the coil.........read this.....it might save you from digging a manhole and will be crucial to learning how to do some primary X'ing of the target before you start using the PP'er.... http://www.garrett.com/hobby/techsupport/pinpointing.htm# Select the Manually Locating a Target (ACE 150) for a visual demo of how targets sound off under the coil. Advice #3............that notch between penny and dime unless discriminated will have you digging alot of caps and tabs in trashy areas or parks. Took me a day or two to figure out that almost every cap and tab I dug were coming in on this one notch.

Scotto......U will love the 250 or at least I do...Had mine about 3 weeks and not much time to play with it but in the couple of hours messing around in a local park and ballfield found $5.76 in coins.......and even found a mercury head dime......my son had to show that one to me..didn't have my glasses on..lol Good hunting.

The Ace 250 is a real coin shooting detector. Just don’t be fooled into thinking that the higher the sence the deeper you’ll go, it doesn’t work that way.
I use mine on a salt water beach and usually run three bars in the wet and four in the dry, I’ve dug coins eight to ten inches down.

Thanks everyone, you guys are awesome.

Can't wait to try mine out, will let you know how I do. Since I bought it primarily for a coin shooter, I'm really psyched up about it!
