Found this today amonst an iron patch that also produced a 1700's Liberty head cent , , amonst other things, right on up into the 20th century ?? What do you think it was for ! Just decoration ? On What though ?? It has a mounting screw on the bottom ! Thanks for looking MaineRelic

Just a really wild guess, it kind of looks like a fence decoration, like back in the victorian days. :icon_scratch: :dontknow:

or banister, stair railing?

if it is made of brass, andiron or bed part.

Turn it upside down, and think.... clawfoot furniture leg?

As Dozer Dan said..bannister or stair railing.Possibly also a fitting for the top of an ornate wardrobe or cabinet.

I'm thinking acorn motif curtain rod finial. An old one. Lots of repros made today. Fencepost finial is a good guess too although it looks a little smaller than the ones I've seen.
