My little honey hole keeps giving it up. Faint wisper at 10 inches produces my second 2 cent piece for the summer. Another 1864. A little electrolysis and I was able to pull a date off. Thanks for looking. Mike image.webpimage.webpimage.webpimage.webpimage.webp

So many of those turn out to be 1864s. they made so many that year... always fun to find though.. Congrats! :thumbsup:

Don't usually use electrolysis as I destroyed a buffalo nickel once but being how toasty this one was I gave it a shot. It did come out pretty well but without that original patina I don't really enjoy it as much. It actually looks like an original circulated coin.
 

That's a great find. I think I would be okay sacrificing the patina to have a better looking coin and be able to pull a date.
