I live in western nc and am having a real hard time finding leads I emailed my local historical society asking if they had any info on locations of old mining towns, ghost towns roads etc. I was told they dont know much about any of that and only know of the boone turnpike for old roads.

I would'nt deal with the historic society personally. But that's just me. The library and old town photos are a big help to me. Also I ask everybody I meet it drives my wife nuts im always on the lookout for potential spots or people to ask about them. Just remember not every spot is a honey hole and the hunt is half the fun.
