Looking for ghost towns or mining sites

I have a side-by-side and live in Oklahoma. I would like to find places where I can tow my side-by-side to legal parking areas from which I can drive the SXS legally to either ghost towns or old mining areas where it is legal to metal detect. I have bought a lot of books and done quite a bit of online research and haven't come up with many options. I would consider about any state, but am most interested in the western states nearest Oklahoma. Any suggestions?

Colorado has designated trails that take you into the heart of the old mining regions of the Rockies. Last time I went though Lake City there were ATVs running all over.

All you have to do is goggle it on your computer and select a state . Make sure you have all state stickers up to date ! Park Rangers and the state boys are kinda picky about that !

A lot of Texas is privately owned, so go west young man. Arizona,Nevada, Colorado, Idaho.
