I ordered an Excalibur just a couple days before Christmas. Its not here yet, but I cant wait!
I wanted a beach detector, but I needed it for land too. Most beach detectors lack good discrimination because you are supposed to dig everything on the beach. I guess because the sand is easy to dig?
But, I needed a detector for land too, for rain, wet sites etc. And did not want to get something that had me digging every signal.
Thus, the Excal.
Soon. Soon.

Good on you hugger you have chosen well, you wont be dissappointed if you are using it on land they tend to be heavy so if you hip mount it just make sure you dont strain the connections on the leads. you are better off securing the leads back onto the housing by taping them up with some insulation tape in such a way that the cables do not flex at the housing connections. If you dont you could have a problem with water leaks later.
Hope you find plenty seeya Neilo ;D

enjoy learn it well.

super choice..................u will not be disappointed one bit....................it is very heavy set up in the factory set up, u will have to come up with different mouse trap.

run no descrimination..................sensitivity around noon or 1pm............threshold.............just a good tone................volume..............lound as u can stand it.

N E V E R use auto.

make sure u have a GOOD STRONG SCOOP, NO WHIMPY SCOOP WILL HOLD UP under the holes u are getting ready to dig

Find a good merchant to sell your gold to, u will need one tooo, take us many many pics of the gold tooo, we need to see it.

good luck

i just read neil's post and he is correct about the wires, many of us here back mount ours using 3" nylon dive belt. it works great, but u must secure the wires so they do not take any abuse.

here are a few pics of some of them.

two of the pics show a rig in yellow for belt mounting that hangs down on one's side...........i do not know who makes it.

u will see in two pics the string used to secure from pulling against the main coil cable................if u rig up something like this, MAKE SURE U ADD SOMETHING TO SAVE FROM PULLING DIRECTILY ON THE CABLE ITSELF

I have recently been planning on rigging my machine up as a hip mount set up your photos are excellent, today I rigged my machine up similarly to yours the only difference is the cable itself rather than have the string I have my cable secured to my belt by means of a cable tie.By doing this there is no strain on the cable connection on the machine at all. I have had the machine for years done god knows how many hows with the machine but always used it as a one piece unit.It was seeing your excellent pictures that got me to finally do the change thanks seeya Neilo ;D
