They look like rocks that I have seen in streams that get caught in a hole in another rock and just stay there until the water and sand that also get caught just beats them round and actually polishes them.

Yea I like that better...lol....you and privet were right though, I talked to my brother the other day, he's 2 years older than me...he remembers when we found them, I was about 7 years old, there was a stream behind our house and some rock ledge that ran right into the water, he said they were in carved out bowls in the ledge..makes you wonder how long it took to do that..

this is what my brother told me....the rock ledge ran from the shore down into the river bed..we're talking more like a stream, maybe a couple of feet deep in most places..in the ledge, under the water, there were carved out bowls with these rocks in them, he said there were a couple of other "holes" in the ledge, but they were empty.... from what others have said, they got caught up in one area and wore a hole in the ledge and in the process got worn smooth. If an indian found them, I guess they'd be grinding stones, if they were still in the river, I guess they are river stones....if neither is right, I guess I don't know what I'm talking about... :-\

yes you do .... those rocks rolling around in that depression for a long time makes them round and also makes the depression deeper
